SUPPLIES EVERY PET PARENT SHOULD HAVE | Scottsdale Pet Carpet Cleaning
You walk in your front door and all of a sudden you catch a smell of that whiff.
“Ah shoot!” you think. Fido has an accident. Now you are off to find something to clean it up so it doesn’t stain your carpet. But what do you do?

Ah shoot!
First, what constitutes a pet accident? The first thing we think of, of course, is urine, feces and vomit. However, there are also other things that it could be and we will need to address; EXAMPLES:
“Puppy got an ink pen and now there is ink on the family room carpets.”
“Oh, no! not the trash again!”
“Puppy has cut his paw and now he has tracked blood on the carpets,”
Or maybe he stepped in grease?
A lot of these accidents can be treated by the pet owner with good results; although some will need a professional to assist you. When in doubt, please always call Sandra with Advanced Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, they coach people all the time prior to coming out and sometimes this coaching can avoid a service call. (How neat is that? FREE advice!)
When I spoke with Sandra she says that she wants to stress a few very important things to remember when cleaning up a pet accident; or any spill or accident actually:
1 – NEVER RUB YOUR CARPETS! ALWAYS BLOT! (Sorry to yell) This is extremely important, if you rub your carpets you will open up the fibers causing permanent fuzziness, this can’t be reversed and would need a carpet repair.
2- Please always pretest any products that you are going to use in an inconspicuous area such as a hall closet. By doing this, you can check for color fastness, nap change and any other adverse reactions. This is very important if you have wool carpets.
3- Don’t panic; have your spot cleaning kit where you can get to it with instructions, her phone number (602) 996-0292 and let the rest of the family know were it is too.
Sandra also suggests a few basic supplies needed in your home:
- A Bucket or Divided Carrier to put supplies in
- Pet Enzyme such as Nature’s Miracle, Simple Solution, Simply Amazing (All can be purchased at pet supply store such as Pets Mart or Pet Co).
- 50/50 Spray Bottle with White Distilled Vinegar and Water (This is a good substitute if you don’t have any pet enzyme and also can help reduce yellowing on carpets from pet urine).
- Pack of White Cotton Terry Towels (Can be purchased at Home Depot, Lowes or Price Costco) Very important to use white cotton towels, they are color fast and absorbent.
- Spatula or Large spoon for picking up feces, spills, stuff
- Rubber Gloves
- White Paper Towels
- Trash Bag
The technique to get the accident off your carpet and in the trash is coming up in Part Two!
