REMOVING PET STAINS FROM CARPET | Pet sitters guide from the professionals.
In part one we discussed how Sandra with Advanced Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning can help us all with suggestions and supplies for accidents. Lets face it – this apples to EVERY pet parent, becasue it some point you will encounter a accident. So now, in Part Two, lets talk about treating the spot. Don’t forget, Sandra always welcomes your calls so she can “coach” you through this.
SPOTTING GUIDE:
When dealing with diarrhea and/or feces accidents scoop up the best that you can and call us. Place a wet towel on area. If you have a pet enzyme such as Nature’s Miracle, apply this to wet towel and cover affected area. This will help with odor and staining. DO NOT try to aggressively go after or stain could set. If in doubt please call Sandra.
CAUTION: Do Not Rub Carpets, always blot. Pretest all products prior to use in an inconspicuous area such as a closet.
1.        Using white cotton towel or spatula, blot or pick up initial spill or accident.
2.        Apply Pet Enzyme to area. Please read all directions carefully. Place a very wet white cotton towel over area (about 85% to 90% wet) and step on several times.
3.        Lift towel and check results. If spot is gone you are almost done, just finish blotting with a dry cotton towel. Avoid walking on area until completely dry.
4.        If spot is still there, you may want to re-apply more Pet Enzyme to area, flip wet towel to a clean side or get clean wet towel, place on area, step on a few more times and then leave towel on overnight.
5.        Pull towel when fully dry, retreat and repeat steps 1-4 if necessary.
6.        If you are dealing with vomit or blood on the carpets, follow these same instructions. You can use Hydrogen Peroxide and a wet and dry white towel for blood, remember pre-test, start small and be patient, blood spreads when cleaning and it is a very good idea even if you remove blood to put a weT towel on overnight as blood likes to wick up. Remember call if you have any questions.
7.        For ink you can use Rubbing Alcohol, follow all the above precautions, never rub, test, start small, Q-tips work good for ink and be patient; like blood ink spreads very easily, so call.
8.        Nail polish, use Clear Nail Polish Remover; follow all precautions, including using a fan or opening a            window as fumes from nail polish remover are strong, start small, use Q-tips and call.
9.        Oil, Tar and Grease pick up the best you can, if necessary cover the area with a dry white towel and then            please call.

Rocco with Sandra giving her the LICK of approval!
Remember our Fur Babies have pet accidents for a variety of reasons, they are ill, old, they are mad at us for leaving them, or maybe they are not getting taken outside enough. When a pet pee’s on the carpet scold the carpet not the pet, he is just doing his normal bodily function and if he’s been left alone without a way to get outside for hours, he has to go! So as loving responsible pet owners I encourage all of us to provide for our pets a way to relieve themselves outside not inside on the carpets. Whether with a safe doggy door/run situation or Bella’s House & Pet Sitting; if your pet is older or ill these are essential, if he is mad at you for going to work, remember you are the pack leader and need to set the rules and that may mean crating him during the time you are gone or at least confining him to a safe area with a doggy door if possible. Regardless, we want our pets to be happy and healthy and so we need to provide a way to relieve themselves.
Big thanks to Sandra for taking the time to write this article for all of the Bella’s clients and readers. Please seek out Sandra next time you see an “accident”
