FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PET PLANET CELEBRATES ITS’ DEBUT ON SEPTEMBER 17TH + 18TH AT PHOENIX & SCOTTSDALE LOCATIONS

New to the market, Pet Planet offers community-oriented, health and nutrition stores and services for animal companions.

Scottsdale, Ariz. (September 06, 2011) –

“We are excited to introduce Pet Planet to the (Arizona) market because there is nothing more important to us than (your) pet’s health.”

 – Laura Leah English, CEO + Founder

Pet Planet will celebrate its’ grand opening with a free ice cream social for animal companions and their guardians, along with dog games and an abundance of giveaways and goodie bags.  Foothills Animal Rescue will host an adopt-a-thon at a special grand opening adoption fee of $150 (which includes: vaccinations, spay/neuter, rabies certification, microchip, Maricopa County license and 30-day health coverage with Shelter Care). Additionally, Gabriel’s Angel’s and their canine teams will be available for guests to meet as Pet Planet will hold a fundraiser, with all self-wash proceeds donated to this organization.

The chain has two locations: in Phoenix, at Tatum and Cactus, in the Sprouts center, and in Scottsdale, off of 90th Street and Via Linda, in the Fry’s Marketplace center.  Both locations will offer free pet tags for animal companions over the grand opening weekend.

Pet Planet’s expansion into the U.S. market, launching in Arizona, was inspired by the Founder and C.E.O.’s, Laura Leah English, love for the area.  She states, “The people of Arizona have a strong commitment to health and lifestyle, which is the demographic profile we look for in a market. Animal guardianship is strong in Arizona as it is a very family-oriented state, which translates to a high pet population. We noticed a real void in the availability of real, specialty retail for pet health, so there is tremendous opportunity for a unique concept like ours – we saw nothing like us here.”  Her desire is to grow and develop over 20 community-oriented stores, throughout Arizona, with an emphasis in animal health and nutrition.

Unique to Pet Planet is its’ adaptation of the Guardianship Movement, the campaign consists of a set of promises to encourage responsible adoption and the spay and neuter of animal companions, initiatives very timely with the overwhelming animal overpopulation in the state of Arizona.

About Pet Planet

Nearly 15 years ago, Laura Leah English and her mother Joan Bauer, opened the doors to their first Pet Planet store, with a vision to be more than just a store, but with a dream  “To encourage a global society where all pets are loved, respected, protected and kept in good health; a society without pet overpopulation, homelessness or abuse.”  Through passion and innovation, Pet Planet has grown to over 38 locations in North America, with 9 more stores on the horizon and has entered the U.S. market with its first stores in Arizona, educating Guardians about the health and well being of animal companions.
