Hey everyone!

It was TACO TUESDAY today up at West Addison. If you know me, you will know that I LOVE LOVE LOVE their tacos. They are so juicy and amazing! So my friend Eddie, Director over at Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR) and I had lunch and got some Taco’s today.We talked a lot about the rescue and pet sitting in Scottsdale.

Since West Addison is the place for Mutt N Mingle I thought it would be great to shoot a quick video to say hello to you. Did you know that FAR will accept all your household items you don’t want and sell them in their resale boutique? Awesome, huh? AND if you know anyone looking for some great items on a budget, FAR is the place to send them! In fact, Eddie was just telling me that they just received a whole estate worth of “stuff” from someone who passed away. Where are my bargain shoppers out there?

Anyways… here we are!

A few nights ago, we played Bella late night! I was up late and on Facebook, so I asked what questions you had for me. One of them came from Michelle who asked the following, Is Tuna Bad For My Dog?

If I am not the expert who has studied in the subject, I never like to speculate. So, I went to on of our trusty resources who has ALWAYS been there for Rocco and our Scottsdale pet sitting clients when ever we have have a question. Dr. Casey is the veterinarian at McDowell Mountain Animal Hospital  graciously responded to this question for us. Here is what she said:

Hey Bella

I am happy to help.  Tuna is not at all bad for dogs (or cats).  I don’t like it as a primary food source (it shouldn’t be ALL that the pet is eating) but can be given as a treat.  Like all deep sea fish, we have to watch for too much mercury- the canned light tuna is lower in mercury than the albacore.  The fresh stuff is also fine, just mega-expensive!  So as a treat, tuna is fine!  The only thing to watch for is an allergy- for some crazy reason my own dog reacts to fish (which is not a common allergy at all

Bella says, “It is a chance for local businesses, the community, and the pets to all come together in one place and finally start enjoying our beautiful weather.”

At Mutt ‘n’ Mingle, you can expect to have photographs taken with your pets by Urbane Distortions, treats on the tables, food and drink specials for the pet parents, and lots of free raffle prizes. Each pet parent will also leave with a doggie bag full of goodies ranging from dog toys to free drink coupons with a total bag value of at least $50.00.

“We had huge success with our past events and the community demanded that we start them up again, so we barked and wagged our tail at the opportunity to do them again” says Bella, organizer and the Pack Leader for Bella’s House & Pet Sitting.

“People are already taking their pets to our large pet friendly outdoor patio, so it was a natural fit for us,” says Matt Ronnfeldt, owner of West Addison.

Past attendee’s just rave about the events that Bella has thrown in the past.  “My Beatrice can get out and socialize with all the other doggies while I enjoy some great food!” says Mardi, dog mom in Scottsdale. Other fun elements include vendors such as Horizon Animal Hospital, Pet Planet, Sudz ‘n’ Style, and Hillside Unleashed.

So how many of us have been trying to convince our family, friends, significant others, co workers, the WORLD that our pets are our family? Well with the changes happening with Facebook today,

our PETS,

our fur kids,

our four legged loved ones…

They get a significant place in our timeline. Just like the birth of a child, or the beginning of a relationship, the beginning of your relationship can now be a milestone as well.

So as your Scottsdale Pet Sitting expert, I stand up and applaud Facebook for including our pets in our Facebook life.

Personally, I see this as a huge impact on society. This tiny little feature can put pet adoption at front of mind awareness all around the world. Here is what it looks like:
